About
The son of a designer, Sam grew up around the industry, even going to office parties as a toddler. That environment, coupled with the unique cultures of San Francisco and Portland, where he was both raised in, helped him cultivate his desire to join the creative ranks and shape who he now is in the field.
Currently, he is based in San Francisco working at the design studio HUb (Yes, with a capital H and U).

Strategy Before Style
The strategy defines your north star: who who are and where you are going. This then becomes the anchor for the visual exploration that will best represent these values. Leading that exploration with style first would distance your brand from truly representing who you are.
Brands are Stories
There are multiple facets to a story and your brand is no exception. Logo, type, images, and motion are all layers that come together to create you: your image, your values, your purpose, your story.
Safe is Unsafe
Having a story isn't enough. The story needs to differentiate you in a way that can speak only to you. Gone are the days of doing what everyone else is doing (if those days ever existed). It is time to strategize how to best tell your story in a manner that is compelling, unexpected, and totally different. The only safe move is to play it unsafe.
Keep it Simple
Everyone has a voice. Everyone wants to spout off every message they're thinking. Simplicity, in the form of a clear and concise idea and strategy, will cut through this and deliver your message to the heart of your audience.
Relationships. Relationships. Relationships.
A strong and trusted relationship is the catalyst for building the most accurate story for your brand. It is through honesty and transparency on both ends that will open up the floodgates for a strategy that truly connects with the necessary audience. Plus it's more fun when the relationship is a priority.
